Vittoria "Vicki" DiScenza

Vittoria “Vicki” DiScenza, 85, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at St. Mary’s Healthcare in Amsterdam, NY, with her loving family by her side.

Vicki was born on March 16, 1939, to the late Francesco and Carmela Simiele in Cercepiccola, Province di Campobasso, Italy.

A dedicated and hardworking woman, she built a meaningful career as a seamstress for various businesses in Amsterdam and later as a beloved cook at Bishop Scully High School, where she nurtured students with her warmth and culinary skills.

On March 6, 1958, Vicki married the love of her life, Mario F. DiScenza. Together, they recently celebrated 66 years of marriage and raising four wonderful children: Robert (wife, Jackie) DiScenza, Carla (husband, Brian) Farrell, Maria (husband, Michael) Ottati, and Donna (husband, John) Decker.

Vicki’s legacy lives on through her husband, children, and her cherished grandchildren: Aaron (husband, Dylan) Decker, Christa (husband, Michael) Decker-Didas, Christopher Ottati, Megan (husband, Aodhan) Ottati-Fogarty, Kevin Ottati, Sean Farrell, Dylan Farrell, and Katherine DiScenza. She also leaves behind her beloved nephew, AJ ( wife, Nicole and their children Devin and Ava) Simiele, as well as her sister Maria Usset, sister-in-law Rose DiScenza, brother-in-law Antonio DiScenza, and many dear nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Vicki was also preceded in death by her treasured siblings, Anthony (Tony) Simiele and Donatella Perella,  .

An avid baker and cook, Vicki found immense joy in preparing meals for her family and friends. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy, and she remained deeply involved in their lives. She also loved traveling, planning bus trips to the casino, and playing Bocce with the Southside Bocce League, where she cherished time spent with her Bocce family.

Vicki was a dedicated member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and the Mt. Carmel Christian Women’s Group, actively contributing to the community and participating in various fundraising events.

She will be forever cherished and remembered for her generosity, kind spirit, and the love she shared with all who knew her.
