Timothy “Tim” J. Skowronek, 61, of Gloversville, NY, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on October 1, 2024 with his loving wife Cathy by his side. Tim was born on February 13, 1963 in Amsterdam, NY to John “Jack” Skowronek and Gloria DePalma Skowronek.Tim attended Amsterdam schools and was a graduate of Amsterdam High School Class of 1981. He attended State University of New York - College at Oneonta and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. He began his medical career at Johnstown Hospital and went on to work at Nathan Littauer Hospital as a Clinical Lab Technologist completing 34 years of service prior to taking a medical leave in July. Tim was a 38 year member of the Johnstown Moose Lodge #1185. Over the years Tim served as an Officer holding numerous positions, lastly holding the position of Vice President when he passed. Tim obtained his Fellowship degree in 2015. Tim enjoyed traveling to the yearly conventions with his wife and Moose friends. Some of his favorite convention destinations were New Orleans, Las Vegas and Nashville.Tim will be remembered by all who knew him for his sense of humor, love for Sunday Funday Football and spending time at the Moose with his friends and family. Tim had a love for traveling, especially to the Caribbean islands enjoying the sun, sand and turquoise waters. His favorite islands were Aruba and St. Martin where he knelt down on one knee and proposed to Cathy. Tim treasured his memories of horseback riding and trips to Maine with his daughter Liz. Another cherished travel memory was when Cathy surprised him with the ultimate sports weekend in Georgia where they attended an Atlanta Braves baseball game; a UGA vs. LSU football game and the New England Patriots vs. Atlanta Falcons game. He forever bragged that his Patriots beat his wife’s team the Falcons that day. Tim leaves behind his loving wife, Catherine Sinicropi Skowronek, whom he married on March 18, 2017; his daughter, Elizabeth Quinn-Woods (Alex) of New York City, NY and her mother, Debbie Quinn Skowronek of Gloversville, NY; step-daughter, Alyssa Nencini (Francesco) of Florence, Italy; brothers, Terry Skowronek (Meg) of Chester, CT; Chris Skowronek (Joanna) of Boston, MA; nephews, Matthew Skowronek and James Skowronek; mother-in-law, Patricia Sinicropi; sister-in-law, Linda Palmieri (Mike) and brother-in-law, Joseph Sinicropi (Terry). Last but not least, he is survived by his Goldendoodle, Cooper, whom he loved dearly. Tim was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, John and Evelyn Skowronek; maternal grandparents, John and Theresa DePalma and father-in-law, Joseph Sinicropi. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 13, 2024 at the Riley Mortuary, Inc., 110 Division Street, Amsterdam, NY 12010. Viewing hours will be held from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. followed by the Loyal Order of the Moose Service of Tribute. A funeral service will begin at 4 p.m. with the Very Rev. O. Robert DeMartinis, E.V. officiating. Following the funeral service a Celebration of Life will be held at the Loyal Order of the Moose Johnstown Family Center located at 109 S. Comrie Avenue, Johnstown, NY.The family would like to thank Dr. Nicole Higgins at Nathan Littauer Gloversville Primary Care Center, Dr. Inder Lal, M.D., Arsyl De Jesus, M.D. and the staff at New York Oncology Hematology for their wonderful care and compassion during this difficult time.In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Loyal Order of the Moose, made out to Loom 1185 located at 109 S.
