Thomas W. Loucks, 73, of Log City Road, Amsterdam, NY; passed away Saturday, February 24, 2018 at St. Mary’s Healthcare with his loving family by his side.
Born in Amsterdam, NY, on November 13, 1944, he was the son of the late John and Bernadine Dybas Loucks.
Tom received his education at the former St Joseph’s and St. Mary’s Institute, Theodore J Roosevelt Jr. High School and graduated from Wilbur H. Lynch High School in Amsterdam. Tom also graduated from Fulton Montgomery Community College in Johnstown, NY; with a degree in Business Administration and was a member of the prestigious Phi Betta Kappa Society.
Tom retired as a manager from the Large Steam and Turbine Division at General Electric in Schenectady.
Tom was a former parishioner and communicant of St. Joseph’s Church and most recently of St. Mary’s Church.
He played softball in the Amsterdam Recreation League for over 50 years, mainly with Lorenzo’s and also with several other teams. He also played in the Amsterdam Dart League.
Tom is survived by his wife, Joanne Martin Loucks who he married on May 3, 1964, three daughters, D’Ette Loucks (Armando Barrera), Holly Jo Loucks (Mark Oropollo) and Diane Compagnino (Mario), four brothers, Robert Loucks, John”Jack” Loucks (Deborah), Richard Loucks (Marlene) and James Loucks, one sister, Claudia Drobish (Kevin), three granddaughters, Amber and Noel Schmidtmann and Karleen Sheckton and four great grandsons, James John, Jordan, Mayson and Eyan. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Tom was also predeceased by a brother, Martin Loucks and a sister-in-law, Patricia Loucks.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 2, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Riley Mortuary, Inc. 110 Division Street, Amsterdam, NY. 12010, with Rev. Jeffry L’Arche, M.S. officiating.
Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Amsterdam.
Calling hours are Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Riley Mortuary.
