Thomas W. Black, 82, formerly of Pattersonville, NY, and most recently of Palatine Nursing Home, Palatine Bridge, NY passed away Thursday morning October 15, 2015 at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown, NY.
Born in Amsterdam, NY on May 5, 1933, he was the son of the late George W. Black and Florence McKittrick Black.
Tom received his education in the Amsterdam school system and went on to receive his Engineering Degree from Union College in Schenectady, NY.
Tom was employed as a truck driver for the Boss-Linco Lines and Golub Corporation (Price Chopper).
Tom was a lifelong farmer, and enjoyed his time traveling with his wife, Lee in their RV Motor Home.
Tom is survived by his wife, Lee A. Duchesne Black to whom he married May 5, 1956, three daughters, Barbara A. Knight (Tom) of Farragut, TN; Valerie A. Csontos (Kerry) of Pattersonville, NY; Kathryn E. Stone (Jeff) of Phoenix, AZ; three sons, Thomas H. Black (Myrtle), Stephen S. Black (Eveline) and Daniel T. Black (Deann) all of Pattersonville, NY, one brother, William G. Black (Janice) of Mariaville, NY; eleven grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Tom was also predeceased by a brother, George F. Black.
A celebration of Tom’s Life will be held at the Family Bible Church, 449 Thayer Road, Amsterdam, NY; Saturday October 24th from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.A time of sharing at 1pm. All are welcome to attend.
Memorial gifts in Tom’s name may be made to Albany Medical Center Foundation, 47 New Scotland Avenue, Room J410-5 Albany NY. 12208-3479 (Attn: Anatomical Gift Program).
Interment will be at a later date, there are no calling hours.
Arrangements are by the Riley Mortuary, Inc., 110 Division Street, Amsterdam, NY. 12010.
