Thomas John Dwyer

Thomas John Dwyer – dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and friend – passed away at home, in Florida surrounded by his family on Wednesday, November 9, 2022.

Tom was born to Thomas and Barbara Dwyer in Westbury, NY on April 10, 1946. He was a graduate of Westbury High School and Russell Sage College.

Tom met his wife Lorry, on a blind date in 1969, one year later they wed on October 10, 1970. They recently celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary. They were blessed with a large and loving family.

Tom was a Financial Advisor for over 42 years. For the last 22 years, currently at Morgan Stanley, he was partnered with his son, TJ.

Tom served and volunteered on numerous boards and organizations throughout the Amsterdam community. He was heavily involved in the Rotary Club of Amsterdam, selflessly serving for over 25 years as Chair of Rotary District 7190 Youth Exchange Committee and hosting numerous exchange students throughout the years. He was an active parishioner of St. Mary’s Church in Amsterdam, serving as a Lector and Eucharistic Minister.

He had a wide and robust circle of friends and associates. Tom enjoyed his backyard sunsets and playing golf with his friends both in NY and more recently in Florida. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially watching his children and grandchildren play sports.

In addition to his parents, Tom was predeceased by his daughter Kerry Dwyer and brother-in-law James Quinn. Survivors are his loving wife, Lorry, four children: TJ Dwyer (Caryn), Melissa Lescault (OJ), Colleen Mastriano (Justin), KC Dwyer (Rudy Lanzillotta, fiancé), and eight grandchildren, Mary Kate and Maggie Lescault; Rachael and Tommy Dwyer; and Sean, Jack, Kerry and Charley Mastriano. He is also survived by his sister Rose Dwyer Quinn, nephew Kelly Quinn (Veronica) and sister-in-law Sara Jane Rose (David).

At Tom’s request, there will be no calling hours.

A memorial mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, December 14, 202 at 11{00 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, 156 East Main Street, Amsterdam, NY 12010
