Therese M. (DelliVeneri) LaConte, 93, of Evelyn Avenue, Amsterdam, NY, passed away on August 20, 2020 at the River Ridge Living Center.
Born in Amsterdam, NY, on October 26, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Ellen O’Brien DelliVeneri.
Therese received her education and graduated from St. Mary’s Institute in Amsterdam. She also attended Amsterdam Business School.
Therese had been employed as a bookkeeper by Holzheimer & Shaul Department Store and also worked at Hays and Wormuth, Inc. Insurance Services. She was a telephone operator for AT&T Phone Company in Amsterdam, NY for twenty-one years, retiring in 1991.
Therese was a faithful communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Amsterdam, a member of the Altar Society and St. Mary’s Hospital Auxiliary. She was an avid bowler and belonged to many women’s leagues in the city.
Her husband, Salvatore V. LaConte to whom she was married on August 15, 1948, predeceased her in May of 2014. Therese was also predeceased by her brothers, Lawrence DelliVeneri, Andrew (Skip) DelliVeneri, Thomas DelliVeneri, and her sister, Mary Ellen Borwhat. She is survived by two sons, Robert J. LaConte (Judy) of Norton, MA; James T. LaConte (Kathleen) of Bradenton, FL; one daughter, Patricia Villa (Michael) of Amsterdam, NY; two sisters-in-law, Mary Dlugolecki of Rensselaer, NY and Josephine Bracchi of Amsterdam, NY. She was the proud grandmother of ten grandchildren – Colleen (LaConte) Dufresne, Jeffrey LaConte, Robert LaConte, Timothy LaConte, Jami LaConte, Christopher LaConte, Shawna Heroth, Danny Villa, Joseph Villa, and Michael Villa – and was beloved by her fourteen great grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
There will be no calling hours.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial, which will be celebrated Tuesday August 25, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, 156 East Main Street, Amsterdam, NY.
Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Fort Johnson, NY.
Therese’s family would like to thank the nurses and staff for all of the compassion and care they gave her, while she was at River Ridge.
