Theresa Auricchio

Theresa Y. Auricchio, 85, of Amsterdam, NY; passed away Monday afternoon March 28, 2016 at River Ridge Living Center in Amsterdam with her loving family by her side.

Born in Amsterdam, NY on July 30, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Bartolo and Abbondanzia Rossello Mirabito.

Theresa received her education in the Amsterdam school system and was a graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School. She was employed as an Accounting Supervisor for Mohasco Industries in Amsterdam until Mohasco left Amsterdam. Theresa achieved her greatest success in the next phase of her life. As loving wife to her husband Pat, caregiver for her parents, devoted sister to her brothers and sister, loving mother, and as adoring grandmother to each of her four grandchildren, Theresa’s endless love and patience was freely given. Her family was always her foremost concern, ensuring that their needs were met before her own. Her love for her husband never faltered and was obvious to everyone she spoke with. Her deep involvement in the daily lives of her sons and their families was readily apparent in the strong and caring character she helped to shape in each family member. Her strong faith supported her through each life event and sustained her until her last moment.

Theresa was a parishioner and communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Amsterdam.

Theresa is survived by her husband, Pasquale “Pat” Auricchio whom she married November 18, 1951, one son, Michael (Michele Conway) Auricchio of Amsterdam, one brother, Peter Mirabito (Irene) of Scottsdale, AZ, one sister, Sr. Anne Michael Mary Mirabito, Sisters of St. Joseph Provincial House, Latham, NY, four grandchildren, Daniel (Krystle), Amanda, Maureen and Kelly Auricchio, two great grandchildren, Kennedy and Avery Auricchio and daughter-in-law, Karen J. Kowalski Auricchio. She is survived also by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Theresa was also predeceased by her son, Richard L. Auricchio on June 22, 2008 and her brother and sister-in-law Barney and Virginia Mirabito.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:30 at the Riley Mortuary, Inc., 110 Division Street, Amsterdam, NY; followed at 11:15 by a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church, 156 East Main Street, Amsterdam, NY.

Interment will follow at St. Michael’s Cemetery, Amsterdam.

Calling hours are Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Riley Mortuary.
