Stanford P. Warner

Stanford P. “Skip” Warner, 76, died at home October 2, 2023.

Born in Amsterdam on March 13, 1947, he is the son of the late Stanford P. and Eleanor V. Keehan Warner Sr.

Skip was a graduate of Fonda-Fultonville High School class of 1966 and worked as longshoreman maintenance supervisor at Long Beach, CA.

He served in the United States Navy from 1966 and 1970 with the Army-Navy Mobile Riverine Force in the Mekong Delta of Vietnam and was a member of this unique striking force and was assigned to River Assault Flotilla One in support of the Army’s Ninth Infantry Division and navigated the treacherous inland waterways of the Delta swampland in search of the enemy. For his heroic and meritorious achievements, he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal

Skip was Past Commander of American Legion John J. Wyszomirski Post 701, Amsterdam, and member of Johnstown Moose Lodge 1185 and John A. Baird Memorial VFW Post 8690, Broadalbin.

Skip is survived by his brother, David Warner (Patty) of Johnstown; sisters, Suzanne Schrader (Doug) of Scotia and Maureen Zabawa (Gerald) of Tribes Hill and brother-in-law, Tom Hoffman of Tribes Hill. Nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to his parents, Skip is predeceased by his daughter, Nicky Warner and sister Kathleen Hoffman.

A Graveside Service with the Very Rev. O. Robert DeMartinis E.V. as celebrant will be Tuesday morning October 10, 2023 at 11 o’clock at Pine Grove Cemetery.

A Celebration of Life will be held in the near future, with the date and time to be announced.
