Sheila A Califano

Sheila A. Califano, 78, of St. Paul Street, Amsterdam, NY; passed away Saturday, September 12, 2020 at home.

Born in Hudson, NY; on June 21, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Donald and Dorothy Philbin Gohl.

Sheila received her education and graduated from St. Mary’s School in Hudson and also graduated from St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Amsterdam, receiving her R.N. degree.

Sheila worked at St. Mary’s Hospital in Amsterdam for a few years, and subsequently became a homemaker to raise her children.

Sheila is survived by her husband, Theodore “Ted” Califano, two daughters, Ann Milewski (John) of Baldwinsville, NY; and Jean Califano of Amsterdam, two sons, Donald Califano (Judy) of Albany, NY; and David Califano (Autumn) of Lake Charleston, FL; and five grandchildren. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Riley Mortuary, Inc., 110 Division Street, Amsterdam, NY; on Wednesday morning September 16, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. prior to the funeral home service at 11:00, with Rev. Jeffrey L’Arche, M.S. officiating.

Interment will follow at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery, Amsterdam.
