Richard S. Cowles

Richard S. “Dick” Cowles, 63, of Hagaman, NY; died Saturday, April 23, 2022 at home.

Born in Amsterdam, NY on June 15, 1958, he was the son of the late Richard B. Cowles and Jeannette Harzewski Cowles who survives.

Dick received his education in the Amsterdam school system and was a graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School.

He was currently employed by World Wide Tire Distribution of Johnstown, NY.

Dick was well known for his outstanding ability to make a guitar sing. He played in bands with many local artists and enjoyed listening to Blues/Blues Rock Bands who are fading into time. Along with his love for music, Dick loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and gardening. He also enjoyed cooking and canning from his own garden.

Along with his mother, Dick is survived by two brothers, Robert Cowles (Kathy) and Stephen Cowles, and two sisters, Betsey McCoy and Nancy Cowles. Aunts, uncles and many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Dick was also predeceased by his brother Kevin Cowles.

It was Dick’s request that no calling hours or funeral services are held.

Interment will take place at St. John’s Cemetery in Amsterdam.
