Peter Knapik

Peter R. Knapik, 71, of Watervliet Shaker Road, Latham, NY; passed away Sunday December 30, 2012 at Samaritan Hospital in Troy, NY.

Born in Amsterdam, NY; on June 19, 1941, he was the son of the late Peter and Elizabeth Knapik.

Peter was a graduate of St. Mary’s Institute in Amsterdam.

Peter was an Investigator for the New York State Police, Troop G in Loudonville, NY; retiring in1989. He was also a member of the Former and Retired Troopers Association.

He is survived by his wife, Karyn T. Knapik of Niskayuna, NY; one son, Matthew S. Knapik of Seminole, FL; one daughter, Alison Keller of Burnt Hills, NY; stepdaughter, Desiree (Chris) Smith of Rotterdam, NY; one sister, Mary Bargstedt of Fort Hunter, NY; one grandson, Ethan Smith of Rotterdam and nieces, nephews and cousins.

Peter was also predeceased by a son, Michael Knapik and a daughter, Carol Knapik.

Funeral services are private and will be held at the convenience of the family.

Inurnment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fort Johnson, NY.
