Peter Friday, 77, of Harvard Avenue, Amsterdam, NY; passed away suddenly, Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at St. Mary’s Healthcare in Amsterdam.
Born in Amsterdam October 31, 1943, he was the son of the late Wilbur D. and Marcella C. Lasher Friday.
Pete received his education at St. Mary’s Institute and graduated from Wilbur H. Lynch High School in Amsterdam.
He proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1964-1970.
He retired as a labor statistician from the New York State Department of Labor in Albany, NY.
Pete was a communicant of St. Stanislaus Church. He was also a member of the Tribes Hill Fish & Game Club and a former member of the Bigelow Weavers Club in Amsterdam.
He enjoyed time spent outdoors hunting and fishing with friends. He loved spending time with his grandsons and spending summers at the Saratoga Race Course. He was also an avid fan of all sports.
Pete is survived by his wife, Kathleen McNamara Friday who he married September 6, 1980, his son, John-Paul Friday (Sara Elizabeth) of Wynantskill, NY; two grandsons, Nolan and Evan Friday, Kathy’s six brothers and three sisters. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Pete was also predeceased by his brother, David Friday, his sister, Diane Clouthier and Kathy’s brother, John(Jackie) McNamara.
Funeral services will be held Friday morning, May 14, 2021 at 10:30 at the Riley Mortuary, Inc., 110 Division
Street, Amsterdam, NY 12010, followed at 11:00 by a Mass of Christian Burial, which will be celebrated at St. Stanislaus Church 50 Cornell Street, Amsterdam.
Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fort Johnson, NY.
Relatives and friends are invited to call Friday morning from 8:30 to 10:30 prior to the services at the Riley Mortuary.
