Michael C. Murphy

Michael C. Murphy, 80, of Midline Road, Amsterdam, NY; passed away Thursday, April 9, 2020 at St. Mary’s Healthcare in Amsterdam.

Born in McAlester, OK on July 18, 1939, he was the son of the late Thomas H. and Ida White Murphy.

Mike was a 1957 graduate of St. Mary’s Institute in Amsterdam and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business from Siena College in Loudonville, NY.

Mike was an honorably discharged United States Marine Corp veteran, serving from 1957 to 1959.

Mike was the co-owner of Bonded Insulation Inc., in Hagaman, NY, with his late brother, Tom. He also was a volunteer at the Amen Soup Kitchen in Amsterdam.

Mike is survived by his wife, Lorraine N. Lech Murphy whom he married on December 28, 1963, four daughters, Tracy Murphy (Adam Jameson) of Guilderland, NY; Patricia Bucci (David) of Saunderstown, RI; Erin Falls (Stephen) of Smithfield, RI; and Kerri Sheraden (Christopher) of Indian Trail. NC; ten grandchildren and one sister, MaryBeth DeLuca (John) of Amsterdam. Many nieces and nephews also survive.

Mike was also predeceased by one brother, Graden Thomas Murphy and one sister, Connie Murphy.
Private funeral services will be held at Gerald B. H Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
