Michael A. Agresta Sr. (Gag) 71, passed away at home on Wednesday morning, August 23, 2023. Mike was born in Amsterdam on September 11, 1951. He is the son of the late Michael and Mary Anne Goldy Agresta. He graduated from Wilbur H. Lynch Senior High School class of ‘69 and soon after began his career as a letter carrier with the United States Postal Service in Amsterdam. Mike retired after many years of dedicated service. He was active for many years with Amsterdam and Gloversville softball leagues and the Over 30 basketball league of Amsterdam. Mike spent many years coaching his kids basketball, baseball and softball teams. After his retirement, Mike enjoyed traveling and spending time with his wife, Michelle. In his most recent years, he enjoyed watching the athletic and extracurricular activities of his grandchildren and spending time with his beloved dogs “Schultz” & “Dooley”. Mike was an avid card player and enjoyed teaching his Hospice Home Aide, Megan, how to play all of his favorite games along with playing Jeopardy every day. Mike married Michelle Ward, the love of his life and best friend, on May 22, 1976 and together they recently celebrated 47 years of marriage. Along with his wife, Mike is survived by his children, Michael A. Agresta Jr., Marcy L. Agresta (Kevin) Canale, Mark A. Agresta and Matthew A. (Rachel) Agresta; brothers Patrick (Betsy) Agresta, Gene Agresta, Andrew (Jackie) Agresta, sister Rosalie Christine Agresta, grandchildren Isabella H. Agresta, Natalee B. Agresta, Dominick M. Agresta, Carolyn M. Agresta, Angelo E. Canale, Aiden C. Agresta, Wyatt M. Agresta, Oliver M. Agresta and Talía C. Agresta. Mike is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and a large extended family. Relatives and friends are welcome to visit Mike’s family Saturday, August 26, 2023 from 9:00 a.m.to 11:00 a.m. at the Riley Mortuary, 110 Division Street, Amsterdam, NY. His funeral Funeral Service will then follow at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. O. Robert DeMartinis E.V. officiating.
