Mary Cady Brodie, 83, of Guy Park Avenue and formerly of Van Dyke Avenue, Amsterdam, NY; passed away Friday December 27, 2019 at St. Mary’s Healthcare in Amsterdam.
Born in Amsterdam, NY on April 15, 1936, she was the daughter of the late William J. and Veronica Maloney Cady.
Mary received her education and graduated from St. Mary’s Institute in Amsterdam.
She received her Bachelor of Science in Human Services Degree from New Hampshire College.
Mary was a parishioner and communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Amsterdam.
She was employed and retired from St. Mary’s Hospital, where she was a Chemical Dependence Counselor.
Mary is survived by two daughters, Ann McGovern of Saratoga Springs, NY and Mary Beth Palmateer (Ryan) of Greenfield Center, NY; four sons, Rick Brodie (Nancy) of Steamboat Springs, CO; Mark Brodie (Edith) of Schenectady, NY; John Brodie (Cereda) of Amsterdam, NY and Patrick Brodie (Margaret) of Amsterdam, fifteen grandchildren, Daniel, Benjamin, Anthony, Elizabeth, Alexander, Brandon, Olivia, Emily, Mary, John, Sadie, Stella, Amy, Katie and Riley. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Mary was also predeceased by her daughter, Amy, two brothers, William J. and John R. Cady, two sisters, Willetta C. Martuscello and Catherine C. Francis.
Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial, which will be celebrated Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at 11:15 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, 156 East Main Street, Amsterdam, NY 12010, with Rev. Jeffrey L’Arche, M.S. officiating.
Calling hours will be held Monday December 30, 2019 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Riley Mortuary, Inc., 110 Division Street, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
Interment will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fort Johnson, NY.
Mary’s family would like to thank everyone at Community Hospice and the nurse’s and staff at St. Mary’s Healthcare for all of the kindness, help and compassion they gave Mary.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Mary’s name may be made to St. Mary’s Church.
