Mario Trippodo Jr., 78, of Frontage Road, Gloversville, NY, passed away Sunday morning, August 20, 2017 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, NY.
Born on October 14, 1938 in Gloversville, NY, he was the son of the late Mario Trippodo and Louise Dambrosi Morel.
Mario received his education in the Gloversville school system and attended Gloversville High School.
Mario was an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Army, serving from 1955 to 1957.
Mario was the former owner of Tripp’s Harmony Lunch and was also employed as a caretaker and groundskeeper at the National Shrine of Saint Kateri Tekakwitha in Fonda, NY for many years until his retirement.
Mario was a member of the Gloversville Knights of Columbus Council 265 and was very instrumental in operating the Gloversville Food Pantry as well as the organizer of the annual Thanksgiving Community Dinners.
Mario is survived by a wife, Virginia Trippodo of Gloversville, son, Christopher Quackenbush (Amy) of Gloversville, NY; three daughters, Lori Kroll (Mark) of Bradley, IL; Melissa Hicks (Greg) of Hudson, FL; and Melinda Trippodo of Canterbury, CT, one sister, Judy Plaister of Amsterdam, NY; and one brother, Ross Trippodo of Gloversville, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins and his companion, Deborah Cook of Little, Falls, NY; and her children, grandchildren and great grand grandchild survive.
Mario was also predeceased by his sister, Patricia LaChance and one brother, Louis Trippodo.
Cremation was held at Park View Crematory in Schenectady, NY.
There are no calling hours. Inurnment at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Johnstown will be held at the convenience of the family.
