Mario Fernandez, 92, passed away Sunday morning, January 3, 2021 at River Ridge Living Center in Amsterdam, NY.
Born in Brooklyn, NY on July 9, 1928, he was the son of the late Mario and Maria Fajardo Fernandez.
Mario received his education in the New York City school system.
Mario was united in marriage to Jean Bedka Fernandez on September 6 1953.
Mario was a proud and honorably discharged United State Army veteran serving from 1946 to 1951 during the Korean Conflict, and was awarded the Korean Service Medal with 3 Bronze Service Stars.
He retired from Northeast Carpenter’s Local Union 291 out of Albany, NY.
Mario enjoyed hunting, woodworking, painting and drawing and was recently selected as a featured artist in the NYSHFA 2021 Art from the Heart Calendar.
Mario was predeceased by his wife, Jean Bedka Fernandez on January 22, 2011, his son Victor Fernandez and son-in-law, Stephen Rondeau and is survived by two daughters, Jean Krohn (James) and Lori Rondeau, daughter-in-law, Elaine Fernandez, six grandchildren, Matthew Fernandez (Kerri), Alicia Fernandez, Amanda Kellerson (Adam), Angela Courcelle (Matthew), Duane Rondeau (Laura) and Christine Rondeau, five great grandchildren, Corinne, Danielle, Nolan, Leah and Lucas.
Services with full military honors will be held this spring at the Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
