Margaret Hugo

Margaret Hugo, 97, formerly of Midline Road, Amsterdam, NY; and previously of Edinburg for 34 years, in the home built by her husband, Milton, passed away Friday April 24, 2020 at Wilkinson RHCF in Amsterdam.

Born in Amsterdam, on March 20, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Mary Going McKearn.

Margaret received her education at St. Mary’s Institute and graduated in 1941, and in 1966 she graduated from the first class for Teacher’s Aide. Margaret retired as a Teacher’s Aide from the Greater Amsterdam School District.

She was predeceased by her husband, Milton Hugo who she married August 15, 1942. He passed away October 19, 1982, two brothers, John and James McKearn, three sisters, Eileen Billings, Rita Lange and Jeanne Smith.
Margaret is survived by two sons, David Hugo (Danielle) and Donald Hugo (Sandra Barber), two daughters, Margaret Ann Castle (Late Michael Castle) and Barbara Jane Baber (Ronald), eleven grandchildren, and twenty one great grandchildren. Nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family.

Interment will be at the Edinburg Cemetery, Edinburg, NY.

Memorial gifts in Margaret’s name may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
