Mara Ross

Mara Ross, 76, of Lincoln Avenue, Amsterdam, NY, passed away Wednesday October 14, 2015 at Albany Medical Center with her loving family by her side, after a hard battle with her illness.

Born July 31, 1939 in Riga, Latvia, she was the daughter of the late John and Bernice Keis Viksne.

Mara also resided in Germany for five years before coming to the United States as a young girl with her parents in 1949. She received her education in the Amsterdam school system and graduated from Wilbur H. Lynch High School.

Mara was a homemaker, deeply devoted wife, mother, grandmother and daughter. The kindness of her soul, willing to help anyone, will be forever missed by all who knew her.

Her husband, James J. Ross to whom she married August 10, 1958, passed away October 7, 2012. Mara is survived by one son, James J. Ross (Melissa) her daughter, Laurie Ann Ross, two granddaughters, Megan Ross and Kristine Tessitore and a great grandson, Anthony Baldwin. Nieces and nephews, sisters and brothers in law also survive.

Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
