Louis J. Szasz

Louis Szasz Sr., 87, of Henrietta Boulevard, Amsterdam, passed away Sunday, August 4, 2024 at Albany Medical Center Hospital.

Lou was born in Queens, NY on February 8, 1937 to the late Louis and Margaret Sara Szasz. He moved to Amsterdam as a child and  graduated from the former Wilbur H. Lynch Senior High School, Class of '56.

He was first employed as a designer draftsman for 24 years at Electro Metrics in Amsterdam and retired from General Electric Company as an electrical mechanical draftsman with the Steam & Gas Turbine Division.

Lou was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Amsterdam and a member of the Irish American Club of  Amsterdam,  Ancient Order of Hibernians, J.F.K. Division 1 in Schenectady, NY. and Knights of Columbus Council # 209, Amsterdam, NY

On January 6, 1962, Lou was united in marriage to the late Margaret Mary Hartney Szasz. Lou is also predeceased by his son, Louis Szasz, daughter, Mary Katherine Szasz and  brother, Joseph Szasz.

Lou is survived by his grandson Jacob Delli Veneri, granddaughters Kristi Lynn Szasz and Stephanie Marie Szasz; great grandson Santino Solis and  great granddaughter, Aubree Adkins.

Friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial, which will be celebrated Thursday August 8, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Mary’s Church, 156 East Main Street, Amsterdam, NY.

Visitation will be at St. Mary’s Church from 9:30 a.m.  to 11:00 a.m. prior to the Mass

Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fort Johnson, NY.
