AMSTERDAM---Louis J. Frollo, 91, formerly of Oakland Avenue, Amsterdam, NY; and a resident of Wilkinson RHCF for the past several years, passed away Monday morning November 9, 2015.
He was born in Amsterdam on May 22, 1924 and resided there his entire life.
Lou was an honorably discharged United States Navy veteran of World War II, serving from 1943 to 1946.
For over forty years, Lou was employed as a waiter at the former Isabel’s Restaurant in Amsterdam. In his later years, he worked at the former Super 30 Bowling Lanes also in Amsterdam. Lou was also an avid gardener and even while at Wilkinson RHCF; he tended to his outdoor garden of flowers and vegetables.
His wife of 49 years, Josephine Petrosino Frollo to whom he married in January of 1946, passed away in November of 1995.
Lou is survived by two sons, Louis J. Frollo Jr. (Patti) of Amsterdam and Michael J. Frollo (Mary) of Tribes Hill, NY; one daughter, Anell Ford (Carl) of Cazenovia NY; three grandchildren, one sister-in-law, Lorraine Frollo of Saratoga Springs, NY. Several nieces, nephews, cousins, extended relatives and friends also survive.
Lou was also predeceased by one brother, Frank “Bam” Frollo and four sisters, Ida Isabel, Lucy Fariello, Jean DeRossi and Susan Carnavale.
Funeral services at the Riley Mortuary, Inc. 110 Division Street, Amsterdam, NY; will be private.
Interment with full military honors will take place at the Gerald B. H. Solomon, Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville, NY.
Lou’s family would like to thank the entire staff at Wilkinson RHCF for their compassionate care while he was a resident at the facility.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Lou’s name may be made to the Wilkinson RHCF Gardening Program, 4988 St. Hwy. 30 or St. Mary’s Institute, 10 Kopernik Blvd., both Amsterdam, NY 12010.
