Lois U. Hegarty, R.N.
Hagaman ----Lois Uhlinger Hegarty, R.N., 82 of Hagaman, NY; passed away Friday, April 15, 2022 at St. Mary’s Healthcare in Amsterdam, NY.
Born in Amsterdam, NY on July 7, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Lansing and Lillian Uhlinger.
Lois received her education and graduated from St. Mary’s Institute in Amsterdam. She went on to receive her Bachelor of Science Degree from The College of Saint Rose in Albany, NY.
Lois was employed as an R.N. at St. Mary’s Hospital and then as Nursing Instructor at St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Amsterdam.
Her husband, James A. Hegarty whom she married on October 6, 1962, passed away December 1, 2021.
Lois was a parishioner and communicant of St. Stephen’s Church in Hagaman, NY; a longtime member of the Ladies of Charity of Montgomery County, a member of the Saint Rose Alumni Association and an associate of The Sisters of Saint Joseph of Carondelet in Latham, NY.
Lois is survived by three sons, William (Daniel) of Columbus, OH, Matthew (Grace) of Rochester, NY, David of Wake Forest, NC; and her daughter, Maureen Moran (Thomas) of Ballston Lake, NY; seven grandchildren, T.J. and Ryan Moran, Victoria, Johnathon, Katherine, Jackson and Lily, two sisters, Dolores Muselbeck and Carol Crannell. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial, which will be celebrated Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at 12:00 noon at St. Stephen’s Church, 51 N. Pawling Street, Hagaman, NY 12086 with the Very Rev. O. Robert DeMartinis, V.F. officiating.
Lois’ family will receive friends from 11:00 to 12:00 prior to the mass at church.
Interment will follow at the parish cemetery.
