Lois C. Gentile, 85 of Memory Lane, Amsterdam, NY; passed away April 6, 2021 at home.
Born in Amsterdam, NY on December 19, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Lewis and Philomena Caruso Gowdie.
Lois received her education in the Amsterdam school system and was a graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School.
Lois retired as a draftsperson from Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory in Niskayuna, NY.
She was a parishioner and communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Amsterdam and also attnded mass at St. Stephen’s Church in Hagaman, NY. She was also a member of St. Mary’s Rosary Society.
Lois was predeceased by her husband Carmen Gentile Sr. on November 12, 2013. She is survived by one son, Carmen Gentile Jr. (Angela) of Amsterdam, NY; two daughters, Gina Gentile and her husband, Steven Smith of Cohoes, NY; and Jo-Christine Wagner (Clinton Sr.) of Perth, NY; eight grandchildren, Noah, Sophie and Jacob Smith, Santino and Tahlia Gentile , Clinton Jr., Alexandra Jabot (Damion) and Christopher Wagner and one brother, Louis S. Gowdie of Amsterdam.
Funeral services will be held Saturday April 10, 2021 at 12:15 p.m. at the Riley Mortuary, Inc., 110 Division Street, Amsterdam, NY followed at 1:00 p.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial, which will be celebrated at St. Stephen’s Church, 51 N. Pawling Street, Hagaman, NY, with Rev. Jeffrey L’Arche, M.S. officiating.
Entombment will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Johnstown, NY.
Relatives and friends may call at the Riley Mortuary, Saturday morning from 10:00 to 12 noon prior to the service.
