Liberta E. “Libby” Piccola, 90 of Division Street, passed away peacefully Saturday morning March 26, 2016 at home after a long illness.

Born in Amsterdam, NY on April 24, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Concetta D’Angelo Piccola.

Libby was a lifelong resident and graduated from Wilbur H. Lynch High School, class of 1944.

She was a domestic worker at the age of 13 years old while attending school. She also worked at Collette Manufacturing part time during WW II from 1943 to 1944. Libby also worked at Amsterdam Printing & Litho, Co. for 8 years, being promoted to Assistant Supervisor of the Advertising Department until her retirement.

Libby was very devoted to taking care of her mother, Concetta until her passing. She also brought up her four nieces, Rita Jo (deceased). She is survived by George Whisenant (Valerie) Connie Whisenant and Mary Lou Whisenant Stacy, her sister, Angela Krolitkowski, many nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews and her dog Bo, who she loved and adored.

Libby loved to cook and enjoyed family gatherings.

Libby was also predeceased by two brothers, Frank and Michael Piccola and one sister, Mary Piccola.

Libby was a former parishioner and communicant of St. Michael’s Church. She was a member of the St. Rita Society of St Michael’s Church and the Hi-Low Seniors

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10:30 at the Riley Mortuary, Inc., 110 Division Street, Amsterdam, followed at 11:15 by a Mass of Christian Burial, which will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church 39 St. John Street, Amsterdam.

Interment will follow at St. Michael’s Cemetery,

Relatives and friends may call at the Riley Mortuary Wednesday morning from 9:00 to 10:30 prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial gifts in Libby’s name may be made to Mount Carmel Church, P.O. Box 699, Amsterdam, NY 12010
