Laverna Mary Saltsman, 89, of Fort Johnson, NY; passed away peacefully Monday February 4, 2019 at her home, with her loving children by her side.
Born in Amsterdam, NY; January 8, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Wheaton and Hattie Gifford Roser.
Laverna attended local schools and was last employed at Coleco Industries in Amsterdam, NY.
Her husband, Malcolm Saltsman, whom she married May 22, 1949, passed away in 2002.
Together, Malcolm and Laverna had six children, David Saltsman (Kathy), Winifred Argersinger, Deborah Camino (Stephen), James Saltsman, Loretta Aubin (Chuck) and Lorraine Casarow (Mike), eleven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren and three sisters-in-law, Mary Lou Roser, Edith Lansing and Eleanor Saltsman. Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Laverna was also predeceased by a brother, Wheaton Roser.
Funeral services will be held Saturday February 9, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Cranesville Reformed Church, 105 Cranes Hollow Road, Amsterdam, NY 12010, with Rev. Ken Heckeler officiating.
Relatives and friends may call at the church from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service.
Interment will take place at the Barkersville Cemetery in the spring.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Laverna’s name may be sent to the Cranesville Reformed Church or Community Hospice of Amsterdam, 445 New Karner Road, Colonie, NY 12205.
