Katherine M. Smith

Katherine M. Smith, 80, of Amsterdam, NY; passed away Monday, January 17, 2022 at Wilkinson RHCF in Amsterdam.

Born in Amsterdam, August 28, 1941, she was the daughter of the late James V. and Katherine T. Quinn Smith.

Kathy was a graduate of St, Mary’s Institute in Amsterdam, and Class of 1960.

She was formerly a Certified Nurse Aide at St. Mary’s Hospital in Amsterdam. She also worked as a secretary for Beech Nut in Canajoharie, NY for 10 years.

Kathy was a parishioner and communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Amsterdam.

Kathy was a volunteer EMT for GAVAC, a member of St. Mary’s Hospital and Irish American Ladies Auxiliaries and a helper for Light up the Sky – Amsterdam High School.

She enjoyed painting, gardening, reading and being with family and friends.

Kathy is survived by several first and second cousins.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial, which will be celebrated Friday morning January 21, 2022 at 11:00 at St. Mary’s Church, 156 East Main Street, Amsterdam, NY 12010 with Rev. Pascal Iannotti officiating

A calling hour will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 prior to the funeral mass.

Memorial gifts in Katherine’s name may be made to St. Mary’s Healthcare Foundation, 427 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam NY or to St. Mary’s Church.
