She is survived by her twin sister Iris Odasz, and her brother Donald Schermerhorn. She is also survived by her faithful doggranddaughter Jaimee, who has been looking everyday for Grandma Joyce. She was sadly predeceased by her grandson Adam Jackson and his wife Abigail.
Joyce was a wonderful Mother, Mother In-Law, Grandmother, and most of all a wonderful friend to all of us. She was someone who we all wanted to spend time with, not because we had to, but because we wanted to be with her, to laugh and of course, share a Friday evening cocktail with. She wasn’t afraid to tell us what she thought, but also never afraid to tell us how much she appreciated us and loved us. She will be deeply missed and can never be replaced in our hearts or minds.
The family would like to thank Dr. Michael Sheridan and Cheryl Sparks NP for their excellent care and compassion that they gave to Joyce and to all of us during this difficult time. We would also like to thank the Staff of Maria Hall at St. Mary’s Hospital for their wonderful care during these past three weeks, a special thanks to Sue Fraiser for her exceptional compassion and care.
It was Joyce’s wish that there would be no formal services or viewing. She will be cremated and buried with her husband, Robert at Saratoga National Cemetery.
Donations can be made to the charity of one’s choice or to the Montgomery County Office of the Aging.
