Josephine M. Mcwilliams

Josephine M. McWilliams, 101, formerly of Roosevelt Apartments and most recently of Hillcrest Spring Adult Home, Amsterdam, NY, passed away Wednesday evening, December 16, 2015 at River Ridge Living Center in Amsterdam.

Born in Schenectady, NY on April 22, 1914, she was the daughter of Vincent and Marie Mazzone Pettica.

Josephine received her education and graduated from at St. John’s School in Schenectady. She also belonged to St Anthony’s Church where she taught Sunday school.

Josephine retired from General Electric in Schenectady. She also worked at Amsterdam Glove Company and Brier Industries in Amsterdam.

Josephine was a former parishioner of St. Joseph’s Church, and also attended services at St. Ann’s Episcopal Church, both in Amsterdam.

She was a former member of the Perth Seniors and the Inman Center.

Josephine was predeceased by her husband, James McWilliams in 1991, a daughter, sister and three brothers.

Josephine is survived by several friends and the staff at Hillcrest Spring.

Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 11:00 a.m. at the Riley Mortuary, Inc. 110 Division Street, Amsterdam, NY.

Friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00 prior to the service at the Riley Mortuary.

It was Josephine’s request that her burial is to be private.
