Josephine Jaworski

Josephine “Chic” Sheckton Jaworski 87, 220 Saratoga Boulevard, Saratoga Springs, NY; formerly of 21 Teller Street, Amsterdam, NY, passed away Sunday, April 16 2017 at The Saratoga Hospital.

Josephine was born in Amsterdam, NY, on March 16, 1930. She was the daughter of the late John and Winifred Wisniewski Sheckton.

She was a graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School, Class of 1947.

Josephine was employed as a secretary for various insurance agencies.

Josephine was a former member of the Good Shepherd Polish National Church in Amsterdam.

She was a past member of the Amsterdam Memorial Hospital Auxiliary; past volunteer for the American Red Cross, a member of the Cranesville Country Cousins Seniors and the Community Center Seniors in Amsterdam. Josephine was also a Girl Scout and Brownie leader.

Josephine married Joseph H Jaworski Jr. on June 21, 1953. He passed away July 17, 2011.

Josephine is survived by one daughter, Joan Sgarlata (Robert) of Saratoga Springs, NY; one son, John Jaworski (Nilda) of Sebastian FL; two grandsons, Joseph Jaworski (Jill) and Tyler Sgarlata, one great grandson, Joseph Jaworski, one sister, Jane Francisco of Naples, FL; two sisters-in-law, Jean Sheckton and Dorothy Pawlowski both of Amsterdam, NY, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was also predeceased by her brother, John Sheckton and her sister, Mary Rossi, niece Donna Pawlowski and brother-in-law, Frank Pawlowski.

Cremation was held at Park View Crematory in Schenectady, NY.

A funeral service will be held Friday afternoon at 1:30 at the Riley Mortuary, Inc.110 Division Street, Amsterdam, NY 12010.

Relatives and friends are invited to call from 12:30 to 1:30 prior to the service.

Inurnment will take place at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, with her husband.
