Joseph J. Ross III, 20, of Scotch Church Road, Pattersonville, NY; passed away Wednesday morning October 26, 2011 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, NY, after a brief illness.
Born in Niskayuna, NY; on December 6, 1990, he was the son of Joseph J. and Tina Zappia Ross Jr.
Joe received his education in the Amsterdam school system.
Joe loved NASCAR and was a Jimmy Johnson fan. He also loved Stock Car racing at Fonda Speedway and Glen Ridge Motorsports Park, where his special friend and driver Lance Willix raced. He was also a fan of the Syracuse University Orangeman, North Carolina Panthers and the WWE.
Joe is survived by his father, Joseph J. Ross Jr; of Amsterdam, NY; his mother, Tina Zappia and her companion, Tim Armour of Hagaman, NY; his brother, Anthony Ross of Amsterdam and his sister, Heather Ross of Hagaman, his paternal grandparents Joseph and Josephine Ross of Hagaman and his maternal grandmother, Betty Zappia of Pattersonville, NY. Aunts, uncles, cousins and his pet cat, Chloe also survive.
Joe was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Richard Zappia.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday morning at 8:30 at the Riley Mortuary, Inc. 110 Division Street, Amsterdam, NY, followed at 9:15 by a Mass of Christian Burial, which will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church, 156 East Main Street, Amsterdam, NY.
Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fort Johnson, NY.
Calling hours are Friday from 4 to 8 at the Riley Mortuary, Inc.
Memorial gifts in Joe’s name may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
The family would like to thank the staff, nurses, and doctors at Ellis Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit, for all of the kindness and compassion shown towards them, during Joe’s Illness.
