Joseph “Skip” L. Morin, 90, of State Highway 30, Amsterdam, NY, passed away Monday January 23, 2017 at Wilkinson Residential Healthcare Facility in Amsterdam.
Born in Amsterdam, NY, on December 27, 1926, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Leona Dugas Morin.
Joe received his education in the Amsterdam school system.
Joe retired as a truck driver from Boss-Linco Lines Inc., of Amsterdam, NY and Glen & Mohawk Milk, Inc. of Fultonville, NY.
Joe was an honorably discharged United States Navy veteran, serving from 1944 to 1946.
He was a member of American Legion Post # 337, Broadalbin, NY; V.F.W. Post # 55 Amsterdam, NY, and Teamsters Local # 294, Albany, NY.
Joe was predeceased by his first wife, Mary R. Trunkle Morin on June 18, 1991. He married Jean Willis on May 15, 1999, who survives. Joe is also survived by one son, James J. Morin (Donna) of Amsterdam, NY; two daughters, Kathleen M. Turnbull of Biddeford, ME; and Laurie A. Morin (Sara) of Averill Park, NY; two sisters, Fredolyn Cherico and Kayleen Guadagno, and one brother, Richard Morin all of Amsterdam, NY; three grandchildren, Michael Morin, Matthew and Alyssa Turnbull, four step daughters, Linda Jenks, (Douglas) of Northville, NY; Carole J. Strozyk (Michael) of West Glenville, NY; Deborah J. Willis of Amsterdam, NY, and Laura Lee Rose (John) of Hampton, NH; seven step grandchildren and twelve step great grandchildren. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
Joe was also predeceased by three brothers, Wilfred, Lawrence Jr. and Robert Morin
Relatives and friends are invited to St. Ann’s Episcopal Church, 37 Division Street, Amsterdam, NY 12010 Friday morning at 11:00 where the Office for the Burial of the Dead with the Holy Eucharist will be celebrated.
Interment with military honors will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fort Johnson, NY.
Calling hours are Thursday from 4 to 6 at the Riley Mortuary.
