Joseph A. Carlucci, 90, of Stratton Apartments, passed away Wednesday morning April 30, 2014 at St. Mary’s Healthcare in Amsterdam, NY.

Born in Amsterdam on October 26, 1923, he was the son of the late Edward and Michelena Cassella Carlucci.

Joe received his education in the Amsterdam school system.

He was a partner and proprietor of Amsterdam Painting and Decorating Center.

Joe was a proud and honorably discharged United States Navy veteran of World War II, serving as a Coxswain (T) USNR from September 12, 1942 to October 29, 1945.

Joe was a parishioner and communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Amsterdam. He was a life member of the Knights of Columbus Council 209, and a member for more than fifty years, He was a past president and member of the Amsterdam Lions and was a New York State site Conservation Officer.

Joe is survived by his wife at home, Rosanne Stelly Carlucci to whom he married March 18, 1945, one son David Carlucci (Louann) of Chicago, IL; one grandson, Jesse Carlucci (Jill) of Amsterdam, one granddaughter, Kristyn Jenkins (Craig) of Northfield, OH; one great granddaughter, Lexi Veri, two great grandsons, Cameron Nelson and Luca Joseph Carlucci, two step Great grandchildren, Kevin and Carter Jenkins, two nieces, Patricia Leggiero and Robin Stelly Zelin, (Craig), one nephew, John David Stelly (Stephanie) and his sister-in-law, Margaret Stelly. Great nieces and nephews also survive.

Joe was also predeceased by his daughter, Ann Carlucci Moore, one sister, Patricia “Lena” Booth and three brothers, Phillip DiCello, Anthony “Jesse” DiCello and Thomas "Butts" DiCello.

Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 10:00 at the Riley Mortuary, Inc., 110 Division Street, Amsterdam with full military honors, followed at 11:00 by a Mass of Christian Burial, which will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 66 St. John Street, Amsterdam. Cremation will follow.

Final Inurnment will take place at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Amsterdam.

Calling hours are Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Riley Mortuary.
