Joseph “Joe” C. Sinicropi

Amsterdam - Joseph “Joe” Carmen Sinicropi, 81, of Amsterdam, passed away

peacefully on June 5, 2024 at Mountain Valley Hospice, Gloversville, NY

surrounded by his loving family.

Joe was born on February 11, 1943, in Amsterdam, NY to the late Carmelo

Sinicropi and Catherine (Filanova) Sinicropi Galluccio.

Joe was a graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch Senior High School and went on to

work as a machinist for General Electric Company in the Large Steam Turbine

Division from where he retired in 1998. Joe married his high school

sweetheart, Patricia Brown, on October 5, 1962. He spent many summers

with his wife, children and extended family and friends at the Great

Sacandaga Lake, where he later built a home. Many wonderful memories

were made there.

Joe started playing pool very early in his life and could be found practicing his

skill throughout his teen years up until recently. He won the (APA) New

England States Region 8-Ball Classic in 1999 where he went on to compete in

the Camel-8 Ball Classic Singles Championship in Las Vegas, NV. He was a

member of The Johnstown Moose Lodge #1185 where he enjoyed playing

pool in a league with teammates who became great friends over the years.

Besides playing pool, he was also an avid bowler who won the King of the Hill

Tournament in 1969 and brought home his family’s first color TV set as his

prize. Joe loved going to the casino, Saratoga Racetrack, golfing and playing

poker. He also enjoyed weekly card games at the Sacandaga Lake with his

son and close friends, as well as many family card games throughout the

years. Always willing to lend a hand at the drop of a hat, Joe was considered

“a really good man” by so many and has left behind beautiful memories and

teaching moments. He had a great sense of humor and some would say he

was even a little mischievous. He lived by the motto “I’ll do it my way”. Above

all, Joe loved and protected his family first and foremost each and every day.

He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Joe is survived by his wife of 61 years, Patricia (Brown) Sinicropi; his children,

Catherine “Cathy” Skowronek (Tim), Linda Palmieri (Mike) and Joseph “Joe”

Sinicropi (Terry); his grandchildren, Daniel Palmieri, Alyssa Nencini

(Francesco), Alecia Palmieri, Karlee Singh (Denny) and Kellee Kenney

(Devin) and seven great-grandchildren. Joe is also survived by his brothers,

Vincent Sinicropi (Lorraine) and Carmen Sinicropi (Rosalind); sisters, Mary

Jobin, Frances Phillips and Elizabeth Sinicropi (Pat Bruno). Many nieces and

nephews also survive.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Joe’s family Tuesday, June 11,

2024 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Riley Mortuary, Inc., 110 Division St.,

Amsterdam, NY 12010, where a funeral service will follow at 4 p.m. with the

Very Rev. O. Robert DeMartinis, E. V. as celebrant.
