Jonathan Robert Barker, 39, of Amsterdam, NY passed away at home Thursday May 23.


He was born on July 31, 1984, to Richard E. Barker Jr. and Elizabeth A. Habla Barker.


He was a graduate of Amsterdam High School and attended Schenectady County Community College.


He had been employed by Price Chopper Supermarkets and after several apprenticeships was appointed Assistant Meat Manager in Price Chopper Palatine Bridge. Most recently he was employed by Hannaford Supermarkets in Rotterdam until his illness.


He is survived by his parents, his beloved brother Justin R. (Sarah) Barker, his beloved niece, Raina Elizabeth Barker, his beloved nephew, Richard “RJ” Barker, cherished aunts and cousins from the Habla, Vertucci and Barker families.


Jonathan was loved by anyone who met him. We were very gifted and blessed to have him as our son. He truly was a friend to all he met and he was a kind, compassionate and generous soul.


He was predeceased by his grandparents, Robert & Margaret Habla Sr., Richard & Dorothy Barker Sr., his aunt Mary E. Habla, his uncle Joseph H. Barker, special cousin Erin Vertucci McGowan.


The Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, June 8 at 11:00 with Rev. Nathaniel Resila Celebrant. Cemetery Committal will immediately follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.
