John Quick

John E. “Bud” Quick, 85, of East 6th Avenue, Johnstown, NY; passed away Saturday evening January 19, 2013 at Nathan Littauer Hospital and Nursing Home in Gloversville, NY.

Born in Amsterdam, NY; on December 14, 1927, he was the son of the late John and Harriet E. Blunck Quick.

John received his education in the Amsterdam school system and was a graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School.

John retired as an Electrical Planner from Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation in Gloversville, NY.

John was a United States Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the South Pacific from 1943 to 1945.

John was a member of the First Baptist Church in Johnstown, NY.

His wife Dolores Dockstader to whom he was married to on May 24, 1952, passed away in 1995. Survivors include two sons, David Quick and Jeffrey (Karen) Quick all of Atlanta, Georgia, one daughter, Candace Underwood (Ken) of Middle Grove, New York, three brothers, Stewart W. Quick (Dorothy) of Amsterdam, David M. Quick (Carol) of Johnstown and Marvin Quick also of Johnstown, four grandchildren, Alison Underwood Northrup (Jamie) and Kate (Tom) Underwood and Kelsey and Cole Quick and two great grandchildren, Evan Northrup and Maura Northrup. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

John was also predeceased by his sister, Audrey Faun Zabo.

John left behind many special friends, and the family asks that you remember him by smiling.

In accordance with John’s wishes there will be no calling hours. Cremation will take place at Parkview Crematory in Schenectady, New York. Urn burial will be private and at the convenience of the family at Fairview Cemetery in Amsterdam, New York.

John’s family would like to thank the staff at Nathan Littauer Hospital and Nursing Home, for all the compassion and care they showed towards John while he was a patient.
