Joan F. Bryant, 92, devoted wife and mother and devout catholic, passed away June 1, 2023 at Mountain Valley Hospice in Gloversville, NY.
Born in Fort Johnson, NY on February 27, 1931, she was the daughter of the late George and Florence (Wierzchowski).Jacobs.
Joan received her education in the Amsterdam school system and was a graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch Senior High School in Amsterdam.
Joan was a parishioner and communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Amsterdam.
Joan was mostly a homemaker and also did Daycare work. She loved growing her gladiolus and was known for baking her homemade bread, which she regularly gave to her family, friends and neighbors Joan enjoyed going out with the girls after church and was a great conversationalist with a positive attitude and outlook on life. Joan was not afraid to die and was ready to meet God first, and then her husband. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Joan was united in marriage to Roland Frederick Bryant on June 30, 1956 and who predeceased her on January 18, 2008. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Roland F Bryant Jr; Kathleen (Michael) Reynolds and their children, Bobby and Kelly, Jeffrey (Linda) Bryant and their children, Gina, Shannon and Janae, Kimberly (Randy) Hills and their children, Cody and Casey, Juanita Matthews, and Frank (Regina) Bryant and their children, Ava, Saxon, Falco and Ursula. Her brother, George Jacobs (MaryLou) and her sister MaryAnn Darling. Seven great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning June 6, 2023 at 9:30 at the Riley Mortuary, Inc., 110 Division Street, Amsterdam, NY 12010, followed at 10:00 by a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church, 156 East Main Street, Amsterdam, NY 12010 with the Fr. Robert DeMartinis as celebrant.
Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fort Johnson, NY.
Calling hours are Tuesday morning from 8:30 to 9:30 prior to the service at the Riley Mortuary.
