James Ross

James J. Ross, 58, of Ridge Road, Amsterdam, NY; passed away Tuesday afternoon April 5, 2016 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady with his loving family by his side.

Born in Amsterdam on March 14, 1958, he was the son of the late James J. and Mara Viksne Ross.

Jim received his education in the Amsterdam school system.

Jim was employed at Wal-Mart Distribution Center in Johnstown as a forklift driver until the onset of his illness.

He enjoyed all sports especially basketball and football. Jim also cherished spending time with his grandson.

Jim is survived by his wife, Melissa Post Ross, whom he married July 4, 1990, his daughter, Megan Ross and her fiancé, Brian Baldwin Jr. and his children, Mina, Lilyan and Brian Baldwin III, his sister, Laurie Ann Ross, his niece, Kristine Tessitore and several cousins.

A memorial service for Jim will be held at the Riley Mortuary, Inc., 110 Division Street, Amsterdam, NY 12010 in the near future at a time and date to be announced.

Cremation took place at Park View Crematory in Schenectady.

Jim’s family would like to express special thanks to all who were involved in his care, the staff in the ICU at both St. Mary’s Healthcare and Ellis Hospital and the Palliative Care Program at Ellis.
