James M. Christman, 51, of Bleeker Street, Gloversville, NY; passed away Monday afternoon May 23, 2011 at Nathan Littauer Hospital, where he fought a desperate battle against lung cancer, with his loving family and friends at his side.
Born on September 13, 1959 in Gloversville, NY; he was the son of the late John H. and Darleen Shannon Christman.
He was a lifelong area resident and attended local schools. Jim will best be remembered for his love of being with family and friends, his love of music and his gift of dance. He was self employed in residential maintenance and painting until the onset of his illness.
Jim was also predeceased by a sister, Diane Surnear on September 9, 2008. Survivors include his daughter, Jamie Christman of Broadalbin, NY; and a foster daughter, Natasha Robar of Gloversville, NY; Two brothers, Roger Christman of Johnstown, NY and John H. Christman of Ballston Spa, NY; Seven sisters, Jane Robar (Lenny) and Joan Johnson both of Johnstown, NY; Madeline V. Orapello of Fort Johnson, NY; Alice Ault (John) of Guilderland, NY; Janet Blood (Doug), Robin Christman (Earl) and Marcia Blood all of Gloversville, NY. Aunts, uncles and several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at noon at the Riley Mortuary, Inc. 110 Division Street, Amsterdam, NY.
Interment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fort Johnson, NY.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 11:00 a.m. to noon, prior to the service.
Memorial gifts in Jim’s name may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Avenue, Gloversville, NY 12078.
