Irene Bablinskas Damphier, 90 formerly of Amsterdam, NY; passed away Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at her home in Seymour TN.
Born in Amsterdam on May 27, 1930, she was a daughter of the late John and Sophie Strikul Bablinskas.
Irene received her education in the Amsterdam school system and graduated from Wilbur H Lynch High School
Irene was a parishioner and communicant of Holy Catholic Family Church in Seymour. She was a great ballroom dancer, loved cooking, sewing, knitting, all arts and crafts, playing the piano, and bingo
.
In 1980 Irene and her husband, Les moved to Florida and retired from the Collier County school system, and then in 1995 to Tennessee where she retired from Dollywood Parks and Resorts in Pigeon, TN.
Her husband, Lester Damphier who she married March 7, 1953, passed away February 13, 2009.
Irene is survived by four daughters, Denise Arthur (Kevin), Renee Damphier, Jacqueline Damphier and Suzanne Socinski (Leonard), two sisters, Beatrice Jasewicz and Aldona Abeling ,grandchildren, Claude and Justin Krutz, Jenee, Kyle, Jacques and Hunter Damphier, Austin, Amanda and Ashlyn Socinski, great grandchildren, Destiny, Alyssa, Colby, Bija, Levi, Leilani and Adijah. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
Irene was also predeceased by her son, Robert Damphier in 1977, her grandson, Jessie in 2017, two brothers, Edward Bablin (Margaret) and Albert Bablinskas and three sisters, Helen, Edna and Genevieve
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Stanislaus Church 50-52 Cornell Street, Amsterdam, NY 12010, Saturday, December 26, 2020 at 11:00 a.m.,with Rev. O. Robert DeMartinis officiating.
There are no calling hours.
Private interment will take place at St. Casimir’s Cemetery
