Helen M. Totzeck

Helen M. Totzeck, 86, of Amsterdam, NY and formerly of Port Charlotte, FL and Henderson, NV passed away February 4, 2023.

Born in Amsterdam, NY on December 12, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Laura Stangle Brooks Heise.

Helen received her education in Amsterdam Catholic schools and St Mary’s Convent.

Helen was the owner of Helen’s Dog Grooming and subsequently Helen’s Uniform Showcase, both in Amsterdam.

Helen was a parishioner of the former St. Joseph’s Church and most recently attended Mass at St. Mary’s Church.

Helen married John L. Totzeck, on October 8, 1955.

In addition to her husband, Helen is survived by three sons, John M. Totzeck and William Thompson both of Amsterdam and Alan Totzeck of Greenville, NY; one daughter, Eileen Desgrosiellier (George) of Chippewa Bay, NY; several foster children, two grandchildren, John A. Totzeck (Danielle Whelly) and Elizabeth Taber (Daniel) all of Amsterdam, two brothers, Charles Brooks of Amsterdam and Michael Heise (Belinda) of Maui, HI; one sister, Gladys Totzeck of Ocean Springs, MS; three step grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial, which will be celebrated Thursday, February 9, 2023 at 11:00 at St. Mary’s Church, 156 East Main Street, Amsterdam, NY with Rev. Martin Kordel, CRL as celebrant
