Helen M. Johnson, 93, of County Highway 155 Gloversville, NY; passed away early Saturday evening February 14, 2015 at Mountain Valley Hospice.
Born in Lynchburg, VA; on May 29, 1921, the youngest of six children to the late Thomas and Ada Sudarth McKenna.
Helen received her education in the Lynchburg school system and after graduation began a secretarial career at the Pentagon in Washington D.C.
She was introduced to her husband, Richard, by her mother at a USO event. They married October 18, 1953 and moved to Richards’s hometown of Amsterdam, NY.
Richard passed away on March 2, 2001. She was also predeceased by all of her siblings.
Helen is survived by her three children, Jane H. Johnson, Thomas F. Johnson and Judith Jackson (Scott), her dearly beloved grandson, Andrew F. Howlan and several nieces and nephews.
Helen was a private person who insisted things be done her way, or no way. She requested that there be no service or formal gathering; and we are honoring her wishes.
Helen was a devoted mother, especially to her son, Thomas. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers. She will be missed by all who knew her.
