Grace Santos

Grace Marie Lizio Santos, 89, of Jewett Street, Amsterdam, New York, passed away Saturday evening November 17, 2012 at St. Mary’s Healthcare in Amsterdam.

Born in Johnstown, NY on September 22, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Josephine Naccarato Lizio..

Mrs. Santos was a graduate of Johnstown High School.

She was employed as a Glove maker at Conroy Glove Company in Johnstown, retiring in 1946.

Mrs. Santos was a parishioner and communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Amsterdam. She was also a member of Club 60.

Her husband, Benjamin G. Santos whom she married on July 21, 1946, passed away February 25, 2010. Mrs. Santos is survived by one son, Emanuel “Manny” T. Santos of Amsterdam, one daughter, Candida “Candy” Rataul (Sonny) of Albany, NY; ex daughter-in-law, Theresa Santos of Amsterdam, two grandchildren, Kimberly and Sarah Santos of Amsterdam, two step-grandchildren, Ralph and Shelly Rataul of Rennselaer, NY; and Patricia Rataul of New Zealand, two great grandchildren, Marley Grace Santos and Benjamin Santos of Amsterdam and one step great granddaughter, Ariadne Nightingale Vindarc of New Zealand, one sister, Nina Santos of Johnstown. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Mrs. Santos was also predeceased by four brothers, Sam, Tom, Vincent and Joseph Lizio.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday morning at 10:30 at the Riley Mortuary, Inc., 110 Division Street, Amsterdam, NY; followed at 11:00 by a Mass of Christian Burial, which will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church, 256 East Main Street, Amsterdam.

Entombment will take place at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Johnstown, New York.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday morning from 8:30 to 10:30 prior to the funeral service at the Riley Mortuary.
