Mrs. Fredolyn W. Cherico (Morin), 91 of Amsterdam, passed away with her loving family by her side on February 23, 2022 at Wilkinson Residential Healthcare Facility in Amsterdam.

Born in Tupper Lake, NY on September 1, 1930. She moved to Amsterdam at the age of 11 with her siblings and parents, Lawrence and Leona Dugas Morin.

Freddie was a graduate of Amsterdam High School in 1947.

She held various positions at Amsterdam Printing & Litho Co, Saveway Supermarket and Millers Clothing Store, where she retired in the early 90’s after 25 years of service.

Freddie was a parishioner and communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Amsterdam.

Freddie’s greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Freddie also enjoyed playing BINGO, cooking for her family on Saturday afternoons, in fact everyone loved Freddie’s crepes; that was her specialty!!! Her and her husband Frank enjoyed going out for Sunday dinners and always sharing a carafe of port wine together.

In addition to being predeceased by her parents and husband she was also predeceased by her daughter Sharon Lee Cornwell, granddaughter Kim Marie Leggiero, great granddaughter, Avery Basile, son-in-law, Andy Renda, four brothers Joseph, Wilfred, Robert and Lawrence Jr., sisters -in-law, Mary, Blanche, Janet Morin and Janet, her niece Kathleen Turnbull and nephews Leon Morin, James Morin and Joseph Guadagno.

Freddie is survived by her three children, Barbara Renda of Fort Hunter, NY, Robert Cherico (Patricia) of Glenville, NY and Karen Ottati (Paul) of Hagaman, NY; eight grandchildren, Shannon Basile (Scott) of Las Vegas, NV; James Leggiero Jr. of Amsterdam, Robert Cherico (Nikki Nolan) of Burnt Hills, NY; Shane Cherico (Kristen) of Ballston Spa, NY; Ashli and Paul (PJ) Ottati both of Miami, Fl.; Adam and Kyle Cornwell of Cincinnati, Ohio. Freddie is also survived by great grandchildren, Alexis Randolph (Michael) of Monument, CO; Jenessa, Haileigh, Chelsea and Vincent Basile all of Las Vegas, NV; Frank and Alyssa Cherico of Burnt Hills; Gavin, Brody and Julian Cherico of Ballston Spa; Shelby and Dakota Cornwell of Cincinnati, Ohio, great-great grandson, Brayden Randolph of Monument, CO; one brother, Richard Morin and one sister, Kayleen Guadagno both of Amsterdam. Many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews also survive.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial, which will be celebrated Friday March 4, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 39 St. John Street, Amsterdam, NY 12010 with Rev. Robert DeMartinis officiating.

Calling hours are Thursday March 3, 2022 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Riley Mortuary, Inc., 110 Division Street, Amsterdam, NY 12010.Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fort Johnson, NY.
