Frank J. Larman

Frank Larman, 92, of Sacandaga Road, Tribes Hill, NY passed away unexpectedly at home, Sunday August 16, 2020.

Born in London, England on June 29, 1928, he was a son of the late Arthur and Lillian Bass Larman.

Having grown up in London England during World War II and after it was over; he took the opportunity to immigrate to the United States with his future wife, Beryl and her family.

Frank initially found work as a caretaker of Fairview Cemetery in Amsterdam. Through the years, Frank worked locally at several area jobs, before he and Beryl then lived the “American Dream” when they became proprietors of the Korner Pub in Amsterdam in 1963 and operated until their retirement in 1988. After retirement they were fortunate to be able to make numerous trips back to England to visit family. A precious memory that shocked both Frank and Beryl was on their 50th wedding anniversary in 1997 as thirteen family members came from overseas, including a sister who had moved to New Zealand. Frank and four of his siblings were together for the first time since 1947, which unfortunately would be the last time.

Also after retirement, Frank enjoyed woodworking, spending time in his yard and spending time with his family.

Frank and Beryl were united in marriage November 17, 1947 and after 61 years, Beryl passed away June 22, 2009. Frank was also predeceased by his loving granddaughter, Nikki Preston in 2011 and twelve siblings.

Frank is survived by two sons, Terrance (Darlene) Larman of Reidsville, NC and Christopher (Lynn) Larman of Amsterdam, NY; two sisters, Barbara Jean Wells and Patricia Phillips of England, two grandsons, Shane (Jessica Spraker) Larman of Amsterdam and Jeremy Allison) Larman of Delmar, NY, four great grandchildren, Alayana and Chandler Preston of Broadalbin, NY and Miles and Zoey Larman of Delmar, who affectionately called him GG Pa; and his niece, who held a special place in his heart, Susan Wastell (David) also residing in England.

Cremation was held at Park View Crematory in Schenectady, NY.

There are no calling hours.
