Our beloved mother, wife and grandmother Ellen M. Moylan Phelps of Ballston Spa, NY passed away peacefully on August 8, 2024 at the age of 75.
Ellen was born in Corinth, NY on August 27, 1948. She was predeceased by her loving parents John and Margaret Lehan Moylan and her brother Dennis Moylan.
Ellen received her education in the Corinth school system and then continued on to Albany Business College for a further degree.
Ellen was employed as a supervisor for Lockheed Martin Corporation at Knolls Atomic PowerLaboratory in West Milton for over 35 years. Known to many as “Healy” at work, she kept a lot of people in line and befriended many, helping them as they made their way through the ranks. Ellen finally retired in 2007. She was then able to do what she loved most and became a snowbird with her husband Dan to watch the sunrise every day and winter in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina spending her last winter there in 2024. They’ve been sharing this time at the beach with their best friends Jim & Pat Hopkins for over 40 years.
Ellen was known for her infectious smile and her big kind heart. Everyone who knew Ellen loved her and she loved them right back. If you had four legs, fur and a wagging tail she instantly wanted to take you home and spoil you. There was never a dog she didn’t love. Also,if you worked in a restaurant that Ellen frequented, you probably had her in your contact favorites and never forgot her because that’s who she was. Only Ellen would be invited to attend a company Christmas party when she didn’t even work at the restaurant.
In addition to giving to many animal charities, Ellen was loyal every year to Give a Child a Christmas in Saratoga County and made sure that she was able to make a difference in a child’s life at Christmas.
On June 6, 2003, Ellen was united in marriage to her best friend and life partner Daniel J Phelps who survives Ellen at home. Also surviving are one son, Dennis Healy of Glenville, NY, two Daughters; Dr Kelly Phelps (Jeffrey Goodstein) of Boston, MA and Amy Phelps (David Lugo) of Mount Pleasant, SC; two grandsons Jasten Healy and Shea Healy, her granddaughter, Margaux Goodstein and cousins.
