Edward R. Furman, 91, of Truax Road, Amsterdam, NY, passed away Tuesday morning January 27, 2015 at Albany Medical Center.
Born in Amsterdam on May 17, 1923, he was a son of the late Stanley and Katherine Furman.
Ed received his education and graduated from Wilbur H. Lynch High School.
Ed was an honorably discharged United States Army Veteran and served in Normandy form 1943 to 1946.
He was employed as an electrician at Fiber Glass Industries in Amsterdam until his retirement.
Ed was a parishioner and communicant of St. Mary’s Church. He was also a member of the John J. Wyszomirski American Legion Post 701, Amsterdam Elks Lodge 101, Polish American Veterans and a Charter Member of the Cranesville Volunteer Fire Department.
Ed is survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Steven (Mildred) John (Jane) and Robert Furman who’s wife, Elaine survives.
Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial, which will be celebrated Monday at 9:15 at St. Mary’s Church, 156 East Main Street, Amsterdam.
Interment with military honors will be at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville, NY.
Calling hours are Sunday from 1:00 to 3:00 at the Riley Mortuary.
