Eduardo Figueroa

Eduardo Figueroa, 19, of Clinton Street, Amsterdam, NY; passed away heroically on May 30, 2012 attempting to save his brother at Erie Canal Lock 11 on the Mohawk River in Amsterdam.

Born in Ponce, Puerto Rico on October 25, 1992, he was the son of Eduardo Molina and Leyda Figueroa.

Eduardo received his elementary education in the Amsterdam school system and graduated from Neil Hellman School at Parsons Center in Albany, NY.

Eduardo attended pre vocational programs, working in the sandwich shops at Price Chopper and the Family Dollar Stores in Albany, NY.

Eduardo is survived by his father, his mother and his caregiver and mentor, Wilfredo Mendez, one brother, Carlos Figueroa and one sister, Ashley Figueroa.

Funeral services will be held this afternoon at 2:00 P.M. at the Riley Mortuary, Inc. 110 Division Street, Amsterdam, NY, with Pastor Louis Torres officiating.

Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Amsterdam.

Calling hours are today from 12:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. prior to the funeral service.
