Doris M. Nowak, 76, of Mohawk Drive, Tribes Hill, NY; passed away Friday morning May 9, 2014 at Wells Nursing Home, Inc., Johnstown, NY.
Born in Amsterdam, NY, on June 25, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Marguerite Mullins Brandow.
Doris received her education and graduated from St. Mary’s Institute in Amsterdam.
Prior to becoming a homemaker and mother, she was employed as a clerical worker for New York State Unemployment Office in Amsterdam, NY.
Doris was a parishioner and communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Amsterdam. She was also a former parishioner of Sacred Heart Church in Tribes Hill, NY, and also was a member of its Rosary Society. Doris was also a Den Mother for the Boy Scout Troops in Tribes Hill.
Doris is survived by her husband, Robert Nowak to whom she married September 10, 1955, ten children, Deborah Fowler (Paul) of Dadeville, AL; Kathleen DiMezza (Thomas) of Tribes Hill, NY; Maureen Manning and her companion, Rick Cerbone of South Glens Falls, NY; Robert F. Nowak Jr. (Suzanne) of Glen Allen, VA; William Nowak of Schenectady, NY; Nancy Curley (Bryan) of Malta, NY; Joseph Nowak (Karen) of Tribes Hill, NY; Mary Lynch (Michael) of Limerick, PA; Christine Tatko (Thomas) of Rexford, NY, and Susan Arminio (Scott) of Johnstown, NY, Twenty six grandchildren, Katie, Todd, Greg , Sarah, Michael, Amy, Anthony, Kari, Kelly, Craig, Alexandra, Madison, Isabella, Cole, Alyssa, Zachary, Krystal, Amanda, Cory, Mikayla, Connor, Ryan, Trevor, Cody, Cameron and Sydney and six great grandchildren, Brandon, Jack, Gia, Enzo, Viviana and Emerson.
Doris was also predeceased by her brother, Henry Brandow Jr.
Doris loved to cook and bake, all sports, her children, grandchildren and her great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Relatives and Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial, which will be celebrated Tuesday morning May 13, 2014 at 11:00 at St. Mary’s Church 156 East Main Street, Amsterdam, NY.
Interment will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, Tribes Hill, NY.
