Doreen R. “Detes” Brooks, 65, of Fort Johnson, NY; passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at Capstone Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing in Amsterdam, NY.

Born in Niskayuna, NY on March 10, 1956, she was the daughter of the late Ronald and Marion Soper Rhude.

Doreen received her education in the Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake School and graduated from Burnt Hills High School.

Doreen was last employed as a Graphic Engineer at General Electric Company in Schenectady, NY.

She is survived by her mother, Marion Soper, one daughter, Elizabeth Jennings (Jim) of Broadalbin, NY; two sons, Kenneth Brooks (Andrea) and Sean Brooks all of Amsterdam, three granddaughters, Olivia Fiorillo-Brooks, Leila and Ella Brooks, two brothers, William and Wayne Rhude (Loretta), and one sister, Kathleen (James) Fontaine. Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Calling hours will be held Monday morning, December 6, 2021 from 10:00 to noon at the Riley Mortuary, Inc., 110 Division Street, Amsterdam, NY 12010, where a funeral service will be held at noon with Rev. Bonnie Orth officiating.

Interment will take place in the spring at Pine Grove Cemetery, Tribes Hill, NY.

Memorial gifts in Doreen’s name may be made to Montgomery County SPCA, 1007 NY-5S, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
