Donald J. Guisti

Donald J. Guisti Sr. 88 of Amsterdam, NY; passed away January 19, 2021.

Born in Amsterdam on April 1, 1932, he was the son of the late George and Ethel Schwab Guisti.

Don received his education in the Amsterdam school system and was a self employed carpenter specializing in building and restoration work.

Don enjoyed gardening, camping, collecting antiques, sitting by the fire, going to the casino and playing cards and always looked forward to spending time with his children and his many grandchildren.

Don married his wife of 49 years, the late Virginia Figler Guisti on February 3, 1951. He was also predeceased by his son, Donald J. Guisti Jr., son-in-law, George Ruth, five brothers, Raymond, Larry, Robert, George and Richard Guisti, three sisters, Helen Guisti, Laura All and Anita Bramer.

Don is survived by his children, Donna Ruth, Debbie (James) Agosta, David Guisti, Douglas (Susan) Guisti, Dennis (Lea) Guisti, Dawn (Michael) Ross and daughter-in-law, Karen Risdell Guisti, 22 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

A memorial service will be held this spring at a time and date to be announced.
